I didn't comment on what each of the buttons do to see if the symbols were easy to understand or not

Connect to local / New

Just some suggestions:
Save/Load: put arrow right to folder symbol, make arrow much bigger
New: Don't know maybe different symbol
Disconnect to server: Use symbol of connect to network button with red line
Connect to local: Probably different symbol
Connect to network: replace regular grid with different image, like central dot and many outward connections or irregular grid...

Re: UI Feedback
thanks for the suggestion most of those are easy.
Thinking up a symbol for new however is not. I am, of course, taking suggestions

Re: UI Feedback
Have you checked the buttons that Imp1 had in the game menu that came up while you were playing?
- Open Save: a sideways bottle with an arrow pointing out of it
- Save game: bottle with the arrow pointing in
- New: just looked like a new document page-with-folded-corner
Personally, I'm far more concerned that the icons could be to small to see than I'm worried about them not making sense. So take a common prop from the era (quill pen, inkwell, telephone, cannon, rifle, etc.) and find one that looks good.

Re: UI Feedback
to tell you the truth I an kinda scared to make the buttons any bigger than they are. I have no idea why though.
I will get some new buttons done, show them to you guys and we will go from there though

Re: UI Feedback
okay tell me what you think. Hopefully these buttons are a tad more self explanatory
Re: UI Feedback
I got Open and Save, but the others look like alien hieroglyphs.
I can comment only a few bits. A like the alien heiroglyphs. If ever there is need of some I will use them. However I also have difficulties with recognizing the function and I think I already know what they mean. The arrows I like more with filled arrow heads and a thicker line but in principle load and save can be used (but might be replaced by other versions later).
I got interested, so I will also post some examples.

Re: UI Feedback
As long as a tooltip or something comes up (in Imp1 most of these buttons had text right next to them anyway), I'm not worried. In terms of look, they certainly look good.
Re: UI Feedback
man creating buttons that you know what they are when you are looking at them is annoying as hell. Thanks for the feedback guys and I am under the impression there will be a tool tip.
I will wait for tri to post his examples and then go from there
