Hi Robert, nice to hear from you and thanks for the encouraging words. That motivates me. At the current level there is not much to test but I hope for many such tests in a few months when the game has progressed more. Hope to see you then.

Dear Trilarion,

I was a huge fan of imperialism back in the day and it is really exciting to see this project. Thank you very much for putting this together.

Hi Prospector,

Nice to see you. I hope your excitation will last for a while because we are still very much at the beginning.

Regards

Hi all,

i´m robert and a big fan of the imperialism games. I like them both, but also thought that some things were better in the other one, so i always dreamt of combining the best of the two together.
So i thought i might do it myself and give unity a shot, but then i have no skills with unity and googled for similar projects. so here i am.

about myself i can say that im from germany and I have some minor skills in Java and JS.

the big question is: is this project still alive?
i downloaded 0.2.1.0 and well, nothing seems to be functional, except some placeholder ui?

Hi Robert,

Unity is surely one of the options, especially if you want to go for 3D graphics and portability. Unity has a huge community. For the current "active branch" I went for Python. One is incredibly productive with Python and can concentrate on the content and with Qt there is a decent high level 2D graphics framework too.

As for is the project still alive? Well it's not dead, but it certainly could be more alive. In the last three months I was so extremely reduced in my free time that I could do nearly nothing. I hope that changes soon. And you summarized the state of version 0.2.1 quite accurately. What keeps me from publishing another up-to-date version is that actually not much changed. The idea is to have a custom (not taken from the original because of potential copyright problems) Europe map and better map graphics. Before this isn't done, not much need to update anything.

So, all I can ask you for is your patience and maybe contribute wherever you see a chance to contribute something.

Cheers

Hello guys. I'm alexander and I'm from Greece. I'm so happy that I see how other people like this game too and don't give up on it . Nowadays lot if people don't care about the gameplay but only for graphics . We need to show at the game industry that we need game that make us smarter not only wasting our time . Keep going people play this game it's really worth it .

Hi Alexander, welcome. I totally agree, gameplay trumps graphics any day.

Hi everyone,

My name is Kristian; I live in the U.S. I played Imperialism a good bit as a kid, and a couple years ago I went looking to see if anyone had started a remake since Frog City and any other copyright holders I could think of no longer exist. I found this project, and now (years later) that I've got some time and things look like they might pick up again, I figure I'll jump in and see if I can help. I'm currently in the last year of my master's program in CS, focusing on machine learning and the designer/maker applications of CS. This is my first open source project, but I'd really like to see it through, so let's go for it.

Hi, welcome aboard. Frog City does not exist anymore, however this usually means that the copyright only belongs to someone else. Sometimes it ends up in legal limbo, but I would not count on it. Still a remake is possible as long as we do a creation of our own instead of flat out copying. Thanks for jumping in. I already saw your activity on the Github page. A focus on machine learning is a big asset, since this will come in very handy with the artificial intelligence part of the game.

Hi! :) I'm new here. I'm a guy from Denmark who likes Imperialism (1 mostly). Anyway I have some questions:

1. Is the remake still in progress? Or is it dead?

2. What language does the remake use?

I have one question more. I remember having played more scenarios than in the vanilla game. For example, I remember something with World War 1and a scenario called "Denmark's defense" (I specifically remember that because I'm a Dane.) So does anybody know where these can be found?

PS: I called my username "Member number 59", but then I realized I'm number 56. Is it possible to get a mod to change that?
