Hi Tril,

your present work looks very professional! At the moment I am reading your specifications and I will share my thoughts about these. But don't feel forced to implement them. I ve no intention to hijack your project ;)

I could support you in code reviewing and component testing or planning the game mechanics.

Well, regarding your plan, unless you plan to remove the engineers, everything is fine :D
No seriously. Your plan to rethink this game element is good. In the late game play I barely use other types than engineer units. However, I suggest not to remove all specialist (exept one) but to reduce the amount of different types and to extend the abilities of the remaining ones. But let me think about this a little. Perhaps there is a completely different and more challenging way to adress their tasks...

cheers

Thank you Engineer. I am looking forward to any comments you want to give now or later. Btw. our first release (demo) comes closer and closer. 4th of November featuring a terrain/map editor with some terrain art. This isn't much but a first step and not the worst for 5 weeks of coding and drawing.

@Trapets
Hi Trapets! Welcome!

@Trilarion
Have you commited the code of the editor into the svn rep? I haven't found it.

The code base is in folder "main/src" and the editor under main/src/org/iremake/client/ui. I am collecting non-project specific stuff in a separate library. Some instructions are in Getting Started.

The state of documentation is terrible and the code is often more convoluted than neccessary. Thats why any review is welcome but also should have in mind that proper comments and streamlining is still to do. But any comment is welcome. :)

Hi everybody,

I am DS, I am a computer programmer, and a huge fan of the original game. I would love to contribute to this project. Although my study keeps me rather busy, and I will not have weeks to spare I will do what I can.

Kind regards,
DS

Hi DS,

nice to see you here! Whenever you have some free time, just drop by and we can give you something that you can do. For a long time to come there will be enough to do for everyone. :)

Just call me Profit, since the full name's a mouthful but it means exactly what's intended by what goes on in a game of Imperialism =p

Been playing the game since roughly 2001, I started young (for me, not the game =P)

Actually very strongly interested in history and have been since I was a little kid. If you guys need help with any ideas, concepts or anything we could play with idea-wise, since i'm terrible with technology beyond a few tricks and tips, I'd love to get involved in any menial way I can.

Hi Profit,

Welcome to this project. There is plenty of ways to get involved, especially idea-wise in the current phase. Please be reminded that we do not strive for historical accuracy, but rather for historical immersion. However history knowledge can help there too. :)

I will answer your questions in the content section and there should be in update coming to version 0.1.1 within one week. :)

Hello.

A short introduction of myself.

Im a big fan of Imperialism 1,2, have been a professional software developer for 2 years and been looking for remakes of the games now and then but never found a good candidate.

Im not sure how much I am able contribute to project at the moment but small tasks would be ok.

Best regards
