Re: Introduce yourself

Welcome Visitor!

Another job that would benefit from experience is sound effects. Even if it's just scouring Creative Commons sites to build a sound library for the game, it's still pretty important in my opinion.

Re: So, what's going on?

That's good news. Exactly what we were hoping for when we made the decision to migrate to Python.

Re: Dev Blog - Trilarion

Yes I should be able to once I do some testing. My wife wants me to find a job so she can stay home with the kids, so IDK when that will be, but I can definitely do it.

Re: Dev Blog - Trilarion

Wow that actually looks pretty good. Will that kind of stuff save in a save game, or will terrain change every time I load a save state?

Re: Tiled maps vs pre-rendered maps

There is an interesting blog entry from Panzer Division , another strategy game in the making. What I like is the look of their prerendered terrain. To me it looks good (enough). Find it at Norway . I will sent them a message asking how they did it, once I found out how to contact them. It's probab...

Re: Dev Blog - Trilarion

That's crazy. I know that object-oriented programs tend to be text efficient once you get them up and running, but nothing compares to scripting languages when it comes to punching a little bit of code.

Re: Terrain Tiles

That sounds confusing. For whatever reason (probably a lack of coffee) I'm not understanding it. I like the idea of randomly generating tiles by pulling pieces from larger images. It's John Carmack's super textures applied to terrain art. Anyway, give it a shot and show it to us, I'm always excited ...

Re: Programming platform of choice

I don't think so. The .15 alpha of 0 A.D. is 501MB, and it's not even close to being finished. Without serious animations or videos, we are going to have a small game. At this point, our only real concern should be how to finish a game with a small handful of regular contributors.
