I had recently with other java-game-project similar problem. It did'nt find java, in Win7 (64) java is in folder - Program Files (x86). Maybe thats the case?

I extracted some tiles from original game, and changed them, and uploaded to game again. Result:
If needed, i can to this with hills and mountain tiles too.

As i thinked, diagonals was the right way to go, but the catch was to halve the top and bottom triangels... nice!

Hei All! Maybe we could set up a Dropbox or another storage or cloud, where we can collect reference images by subject (terrain ref, city ref, army unit ref etc). Some long time ago i found a good website from internet where you had a chance to view very old American newspapers. Newspapers were full...

Excellent graphics!

Imho, it's good when we could use 3d renders as primary source for making graphics for industry and infrastructure, also for illustrations of technical achievements. When we combine 3d renders with some overpaint and textures, the the result will be good.

How close to original..

How close to the original Imp we want the graphics to be? Imho graphics of the original Imperialism is a perfect - tiles, army units, illustrations of technical achievements are class of their own. I think we have a lot to do on the graphics side, that the end result would be worthy of the original....
