We have 18 forum members and more than 10 have been online at the same time. That wasn't long ago. Anyway I only see three of us discussing the game. Are there more people interested in contributing ideas or not?

Edit: There are at least Creator (UI topics) and Haxaco (buried in work). Anyone else?

Making a working tactical battle system is equally costly as making the rest of the game. Furthermore it is independent of the rest - it's a game in the game. Making war is not just moving units around in a tactical batlle. You have to decide which units to build, where to move them, how many to use...

It depends a bit on what exactly is the situation. If there is only one meaningful action I surely expect the AI to do it. I don't believe that we'll be able to get an AI doing the battles you think of. So tactical battle might be an option only for player vs player battles. As most people play the game against AI this part of the game will be - compared to the effort to realize it - unimportant. Sorry for saying that :...

So what's your opinion about this land unit/battle model? Sorry, but I never wanted a different battle model for Imperialism. In this kind of game I usually skip battles and I am satisfied with automatic resolution. When I want to play battles I either play Panzer General (or the like) or Total War...
