Economy
Modelling something resembling the real world will result in extreme complexity, so we need to simplify strongly and use unrealistic shortcuts. However it shouldn't behave as unrealistic as the original game. This part has given me a strong headache but now I think I have come up with something reas...

Diplomacy
Attached is the part about Diplomacy from the current Game Specifications. It's an important part of the game and a very complex field. Easy to screw up. The original wasn't particularly good at diplomacy. The main change here is that at least some (eg. peace) treaties must be honored. What do you t...

General Settings
Here now an overview about some general settings. Of course all such settings can be edited in the editor. It's just what we want to have in general. 1. Number of turns: 4 per year (seasons), earlist 1814, latest 1914 (400 turns) but continues to run if the player wants it 2. Victory conditions: Mil...

Re: Discussion about the original...
I absolutely agree and will now open threads for it. With subfora I would wait until the number of threads increase. Having subfora with only 1 or 2 threads also doesn't look nice.

Re: Game Specifications and Where I'm Supposed to Start
Yes, it seems vast indeed. However the original game consists of research and diplomacy and trade and industry and military... I didn't know how to cut anything out in a reasonable way. And I also don't want - it is just grand strategy and that's what many people love. Of course if there are good id...

Re: We need a NAME for the project!
So until we have a better name I suggest the official name will be "Imperialism remake" but in colloquial it will probably be the Imp-Remake. Nevertheless I would like to have something like a unique subtitle, but we have plenty of time for that.

Re: Promoting the project
Well, there's the IMP list and the Imperialist Forum, ofcourse the last has seen (several?) stranded remake projects. I guess we could post threads in fan forums of Civilization (civfanatics), Paradox, Total War, etc. to attract more people? You are absolutely right. I guess I will soon make an ann...

Re: General Style - Guidelines
For starting the discussion I just quote from the chapter in the Design document: Style: early 1800s, authentic, water colors and pencil drawings (as in the original) Format: Non-scalable, Lossless, Including Transparency (PNG) Storage: Raw Format (Photoshop, ...) in the Artwork Archive Map Tiles: 6...

General Style - Guidelines
I want to collect general guidelines for the project in one thread. First there will be an overview and then following a discussion?
- In the official Design document (Download) there is a graphics chapter with some guidelines.
